Bartlet and the Church

Picture
President Bartlet donated his childhood rosary to our collection.
A young President Bartlet was on his way to devoting his life to the Catholic Church with plans to enter the priesthood. Adhering to the religion of his mother, Josiah Bartlet was a thriving student in his years at Catholic school.
It was only after meeting his wife that President Bartlet chose economics over religion.
The Catholic Church and the long history it has with the Protestant Church figures large in his history, and we have a special exhibit to document this aspect of Josiah Barlet's life.
Of particular interest is his rosary from childhood, given to him from his mother on his 13th birthday.
